A. You’re assuming that people labeled overweight or obese are unhealthy. That’s just as false as saying all thin people are anorexic.
B. Fat people don’t cause rates to increase, the insurance companies do. When is the last time you filled out a form for employer-sponsored insurance that asked for your cholesterol count, blood sugar, stress level, or sleep habits? Never. They ask about your weight because its an easy number to obtain and, by basing rates on it, an easy way to increase profits.
C. Many illnesses exist that cause people to gain weight, have trouble losing weight, or limit their ability to get adequate exercise. Don’t assume that a fat person is ill because he or she is fat and not the other way around.
